LPAG Auditions for The Christmas Toyshop
Lackland Performing Arts Group will be holding auditions for their holiday performance, The Christmas Toyshop by Michele L. Vacca, on September 29 & 30, 6:00 PM at the Arnold Hall Community Center Ballroom. Performance dates will be December 5-7. Cast needed: Adults - 4 M, 4 F and 13-15 children of all ages. 2008 Family and Teen Talent Contest
Arnold Hall Community Center will host its annual Lackland AFB Family & Teen Talent Contest on November 14. This event will be free and open to the public. Contestants will compete at the Bob Hope Performing Arts Theatre. A total of 15 categories are available for families to participate in targeting youth as young as three and up. This year the competition includes a “husband and wife” category. For those who wish to perform at the talent contest, applications can be picked up and submitted at the Arnold Hall Community Center or the Youth Center.
Class Information
NEW! New York Style Salsa Lessons: Wondering how you can dance like the stars on TV? Sign up for these lessons, and you'll be getting all "10s" when you hit the dance floor. Classes start October 2nd and meet every Thursday 5-6pm. Cost is $10 per lesson.
Belly Dance Classes: by Karen Barbee Adkisson every Monday 6-7 p.m. $10 per person, per lesson. Exercise while having fun!
Arnold Hall Community Center is looking for instructor's to teach Ballroom, Salsa, Country Line Dancing and Two-Step. If interested, please call 671-2619/2352 for more information.
Ballroom Dance and Swing Lessons by David & Terry Meyer:
Arnold Hall is taking sign ups for Ballroom/Swing Lessons. Ballroom Dance (Beginning Waltz) will begin Tue, 7 Oct 5:00-6:00 p.m. and Swing Lessons (Beginning Big-Band Swing) will begin Wed, 8 Oct 5:00-6:00 p.m. at Arnold Hall Ballroom. Drum Lessons: Arnold Hall Community Center is taking sign ups for drum lessons. The first lesson will start on Wed, 3 Sep 2008 and it will be scheduled for every Wed. $10 per 1/2 hour lesson. For more information please contact Arnold Hall Community Center at 671-2619/2352.

Please join us at our next meeting August 27th at 6:00 PM in Arnold Hall. We are also looking for stage and set crew for our next show, Mugsy Sent Me!, to be performed in August. Congressional Award
The Congressional Award is the U.S. Congress' award for young Americans. It is non-partisan, voluntary, and non-competitive. The program is open to all 14- to 23-year-olds. Participants earn Bronze, Silver and Gold Congressional Award Certificates and Bronze, Silver and Gold Congressional Award Medals. Each level involves setting goals in four program areas; Volunteer Public Service, Personal Development, Physical Fitness, and Expedition/Exploration. Earning the Award is a fun and interesting way to get more involved in something you already enjoy or something you'd like to try for the first time. You move at your own pace - on your own or with your friends.
